Utica College’s complete suite of Cybersecurity programs offers a variety of specializations and addresses both the technical and non-technical areas of the industry.

The curriculum for the Master’s, Bachelor’s, and Certificate Cybersecurity and Criminal Justice degree programs are cutting edge and allow students to remain absolutely current with ever-changing technologies, industry best-practices, emerging analytics, risk analysis, and investigative techniques.

BS in Cybersecurity

The online BS in Cybersecurity prepares you to be on the front lines safeguarding society's vital information. The curriculum provides extensive coursework in digital forensics, fraud investigation, and cyber ops to protect computer systems and secure online data.  Use real-world software and tools to learn the latest techniques for accumulating evidence in prosecuting cybercrimes using digital evidence, and to understand the wide range of vulnerabilities in government and corporate computer networks.


The online bachelor’s program offers four specializations:

  1. Network Forensics and Incident Response
  2. Information Assurance
  3. Cybercrime and Fraud Investigation
  4. Cyber Operations

Key Course Examples:

CRJ 107 – Computer Hardware and Peripherals (3 Credits)
Computer hardware and peripherals and other digital media used in commission of cyber-crimes. Hands-on examination of devices, including building, configuring, upgrading, troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repair.


CSC 316 – Object-oriented Programming (3 Credits)
Introduction to the object-oriented paradigm of programming. Objects, classes, and inheritance.


CRJ 455 – Cybercrime Investigations and Forensics III (3 Credits)
Theory and techniques for tracking attackers across the Internet. Practical exercises from case studies of Internet based crimes

MS in Cybersecurity

Utica's online MS in Cybersecurity educates students to proactively address ever-changing cyber attack and infiltration techniques. The curriculum combines state-of-the-art practices in intelligence, forensics, and cyber operations, and offers several specializations targeted to students with different interests in this field.

Key Course Examples: 

CYB 605 – Principles of Cybersecurity (3 Credits)
Provides an advanced view of cybersecurity. It reviews the impact of cybersecurity on institutions, privacy, business and government applications; and examines the dimensions of networks, protocols, operating systems, and associated applications.


CYB 615 – Cyber Counterintelligence (3 Credits)
An overview of the history and evolution of cyber -counterintelligence, covering areas that include passive and active measures, principles and processes, ethics, and evaluation of successes and failure.


CYB 652 – Intrusion Forensics and Network Analysis (3 Credits)
As a result of advances in technology and a consequent rise in computer-related crime and victimization, there is a need for experts in detecting when an unlawful intrusion has occurred and who is responsible. This course emphasizes ethical considerations as well as proper procedure for intrusion analysis and the forensic investigation that follows.


CYB 691 – Malware Practicum (3 Credits)
This course is designed to give students supervised practical application of previously or concurrent studied theory in malware mitigation and analysis. Students will learn the nuances of finding and mitigating malware and gain a deep understanding of the technical methods of malicious code, utilizing specialized malware analysis tools and environments, and enterprise wide mitigation methods.

BS in Criminal Justice

Utica College’s online BS in Criminal Justice degree develops your abilities to prevent criminal behavior, catch criminals, rehabilitate offenders, and build a system where justice and rights are continually served.
